GEORGE NEWS - The lovers of woodwind instruments are in for a treat at the George Music Society's next concert.
The Little Winds Quintet will perform at the George Museum on Saturday 8 June at 19:00.
The programme will consist of compositions by Felix Mendelsohn, Piazzolla, Mozart and other famous composers and is a varied and entertaining selection of chamber music in different genres from Classical, Romantic and Modern masterworks.
The wind quintet is a special instrumental format but is rarely heard in chamber concerts, because of the individual character of the instruments. The quintet is stylistically very versatile and can produce a vast range of sound colours.
The Little Winds quintet consists of the Capetonians clarinettist David Little, oboist Shaun Little, flutist Bridget Rennie- Salonen, bassoonist Simon Ball and hornist Len Worthington-Smith.
They have performed often together in various orchestral and chamber music capacities and particularly in the wind quintet format.
