GEORGE NEWS - The lovers of woodwind instruments are in for a treat at the George Music Society's next concert.
The Little Winds Quintet will perform at the George Museum on Saturday 8 June at 19:00.
The programme will consist of compositions by Felix Mendelsohn, Piazzolla, Mozart and other famous composers and is a varied and entertaining selection of chamber music in different genres from Classical, Romantic and Modern masterworks.
The wind quintet is a special instrumental format but is rarely heard in chamber concerts, because of the individual character of the instruments. The quintet is stylistically very versatile and can produce a vast range of sound colours.
The Little Winds quintet consists of the Capetonians clarinettist David Little, oboist Shaun Little, flutist Bridget Rennie- Salonen, bassoonist Simon Ball and hornist Len Worthington-Smith.
They have performed often together in various orchestral and chamber music capacities and particularly in the wind quintet format.
Tickets for this unique concert can be purchased online or at 73 Meade Street, (next to Patria) or at the concert. Tickets cost R140 for public and R30 for learners. Members and music lovers over 75 years of age pays only R90.
Do not miss this very special performance!
