GEORGE NEWS - Grab your top hat and book a seat for Broadway - the Greatest Show presented by the George Society of Arts at the Dotsure George Arts Theatre in May.
The production features songs from 22 Broadway productions performed by local children, men and ladies, with group numbers of the whole cast, as well as powerful and comedic solos.
Director Schalk Visagie said they aim to bring a bit of professional Broadway to our local theatre for everyone to enjoy. "Some numbers, in terms of choreography, are based on actual Broadway productions - which is a first for our local theatre," said Visagie.
"This project started for me in 2020 and I felt we needed to showcase an event to raise much-needed funds for the theatre and also to show the public what high standard our amateur music lovers and enthusiasts can offer.
"The arts industry all over the world has suffered tremendously during the Covid pandemic and our one-of-a-kind theatre was on the brink of closing its doors. We urge the George community to support us in keeping the arts alive and I am confident that the audience members will be thoroughly entertained."
The production will be showcased on 11 to 14 May and 18 to 21 May. Showtime on Wednesday to Saturday is 18:30, with an additional performance on Saturdays at 13:00. Tickets cost R150 (adults), R120 (members) and R80 (children).
All money raised are for the theatre fund. Book a ticket directly at the theatre on 044 873 3938 or at Computicket.
