GEORGE NEWS - There's a wonderful treat in store for Georgians: Pieter-Dirk Uys is coming to town from 13 to 17 February 2018!
He brings five shows to the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre, which are sure to entertain and delight.
Tickets bought online until 8 January will go at a special price of R130 per person.
After that, it will be R150.
Pieter-Dirk Uys and his alter ego, Evita Bezuidenhout, have been challenging our views, reminding us of where we come from in shows full of laughter and sharp commentary over the past 40 years.
He mirrors our unique South African politics and gets us to laugh at ourselves.
Uys brings five different shows (see the various titles at www.georgeartstheatre.co.za) to select from.
In his show on 13 February, Weerklink van 'n Wanklank (Afrikaans), and 15 February The Echo of a Noise, Uys will reveal the great influences in his life - his father Hannes Uys and mother Helga Bassel; and of course his unlikely pen friend, the beautiful Sophia Loren.
Audiences are given the opportunity to celebrate a life well lived in all its emotional states. Uys has performed to full houses and sold-out seasons.
His masterful storytelling, wit and wisdom are generously shared. As usual, he takes his audiences into his confidence, breaks the rules and crosses boundaries.
Since the moment he first stepped on stage in the 1970s, Uys has been a voice when others have demanded silence.
He has always used humour as a "weapon of mass distraction" and describes the laughter he evoked as a relief from the fears that shaped South African society in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and 80s.
All shows start at 19:00. Tickets can be booked online at www.georgeartstheatre.co.za.
