GEORGE SAILING NEWS - Ideal sailing conditions ensured that all three scheduled races could be completed on Sunday at the George Lakes Yacht Club.
The club's junior numbers have increased, with them campaigning for the upcoming Tera World Championships to be held on nearby Swartvlei Lagoon. Senior numbers have decreased.
In the first race Ashley Layland finished first on a Tera Pro, with Ayden Gething close behind. The Tera Sports performed well in the fresher wind, and took the top three places on handicap. Tristan Boshoff and Gareth Steenkamp were behind Gething.
In the senior fleet Luke de Villiers (Dabchick) and Malcolm Osborne (Laser Radial) contested the lead among the dinghies for two rounds, until a capsize by the Dabchick allowed the Laser an uncontested finish and the race win.
In the second race, the Dart 18 of Hans Delport and Herb Phillips finished eight minutes ahead.
Osborne was the leading dinghy in the senior fleet ahead of the Dabchicks of Luke de Villiers, Jordyn Soldin and Anthony Alant.
In the junior fleet the Tera Sports got ahead of the leading Tera Pro. Gething established the lead ahead of Boshoff and Steenkamp.
In the third race Layland finished first, ahead of the other Tera Sports. Once again, Gething was leading the Tera Sports.
Gething was the top sailor of the day in the junior fleet with three first places on handicap, ahead of Tristan Boshoff and Gareth Steenkamp.
In the senior fleet the Delport Dart 18 scored first place on handicap.
