CHESS NEWS - Eden Chess’ Kayleigh Cornforth, who was a member of the SA team that participated in the African Schools Individual Chess Championship, did her home town proud.
She ended 16th among 84 girls who competed in the U13 age group.
Despite the setback of missing one round due to illness, Kayleigh won five of her nine games, played two draws and lost only one game. Her total points were six out of nine.
The African Schools Individual Chess Championship took place in Mombasa, Kenya, from 23 to 28 May.
Kayleigh faced competitors from across the continent, including Uganda, Namibia, South Africa, Kenya and Zambia.
