GEORGE NEWS & VIDEO - Parkrunners are showing their commitment this morning by leaving their warm beds to participate in a 5km run or walk through the pine forest at the back of the Garden Route Botanical Gardens in Caledon Street.
Although many athletes wouldn't miss a parkrun for anything in the world, others decided to pitch for mere celebratory reasons.
Today, 6 April, is no ordinary day - it is George parkrun's tenth birthday.
Media liaison officer Wayne Ryder and the rest of the management are very excited to celebrate a decade of hard work and persistence to get our town moving.
"The weather had us a bit worried at one point, but we decided to persist. It is after all our parkrun's birthday," he said.
Many runners are clad in blue - the symbolic colour in parkrun lingo for having completed 500 parkruns.
