SOCCER NEWS - Black Cats FC staged an impressive second-half comeback to defeat log leaders Moonlight FC 3-2 in a Safa Eden Regional Men's League clash at the Lawaaikamp Stadium on Saturday 11 April.
The visitors from Dysselsdorp made a strong start, taking the lead through Keawan Kammies, who capitalised on a set-piece situation to beat goalkeeper Aphelo Skirt and make it 1-0.
Black Cats responded well, with midfielders Sange Manzi and Henristot Kawaya dictating play. Their efforts paid off when Mphumzi 'Scara' Kalolo equalised with a well-taken strike inside the box.
Moonlight, however, regained the advantage just before half-time, as Everton Maxim found the net to give the visitors a 2-1 lead at the break.
After the half-time break, Moonlight continued to press, but the Black Cats showed resilience. Nkosiyabo Toto brought the home side level at 2-2, shifting momentum in their favour. Increased attacking pressure and a dangerous free kick from Manzi kept Moonlight's defence under strain.
The Black Cats completed the turnaround in the closing stages when Keathon van Rooyen scored the decisive goal to secure a 3-2 victory.
After the match, Black Cats coach Thanduxolo Dingi said the team was well prepared following a strong Easter tournament run and remained focused on maintaining consistency for the rest of the season. Moonlight coach Patrick Hafta expressed his disappointment, noting that missed opportunities in the first half proved costly.
The result lifts the Black Cats to 36 points from 21 matches, moving them into fifth position, while Moonlight remains top of the standings on 49 points after 20 games.
