Spied towards the end of last month still wrapped in heavy layers of disguise, the latest details surrounding the first open-deck Jeep in nearly 30 years comes after a dealer presentation document, leaked by the jeepscramblerforum.com, revealed that the newcomer will feature an “authentic Jeep design”, “Jeep off-road capability”, “next generation [of] Advanced Safety Systems”, “15 class exclusive innovations” and “[the] next generation of infotainment systems including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto”.
While Jeep is still to officially confirm whether the pick-up will revive the Scrambler name last used in 1985, what is known is that it will otherwise be identical to the Wrangler inside with the same applying to the engine options, which will consist out of a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 making 213kW/353Nm, the hybrid assisted 200kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged Hurricane four-pot and later, the same 3.0 EcoDiesel (CRD) V6 used in the Grand Cherokee and Ram 1500. A 147kW/450Nm 2.2-litre oil-burner will be sole offering in Europe.
