According to reports, the creators of the Lotus Exige tuned Hennessey Venom GT and Ford F150 Raptor derived VelociRaptor are set to unveil a range of performance upgrades for the Demon in due course, consisting of a drag racing approved rollcage, parachute system and an upgraded supercharger to lift power from 626 kW to a mind-blowing 1 118 kW or 1 500 horsepower.
Already the most powerful Dodge ever created with a hypercar rivalling 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of 2.3 seconds, the Hennessey tuned Demon will likely eclipse this figure, although it remains to be seen whether it will dip below the two seconds mark.
Meanwhile, a new report has alleged that the regular Demon will be priced below $100 000 (R1 314 120) despite the $64 195 (R843 599) sticker price of the Challenger SRT Hellcat on which it is based.
"Obviously it will be more than a regular Hellcat, but it's going be well below six figures," Fiat-Chrysler Head of Passenger Cars, Tim Kuniskis, was quoted by Road and Track as saying.
Production of the Demon is set to commence later this year with only 3 000 units planned for the United States and a mere 300 for Canada.
