While differing little from the uncovered images regularly posted online, the biggest departure from previous models is that the stalwart 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, as previously reported, makes way for the same 1.8-litre unit used in the Alpine A110.
Pumping out 188 kW and 320 Nm of torque in the revived sports coupe, the unit in the Megane RS has been significantly revised to produce 206 kW and 390 Nm. A more powerful 224 kW Trophy is however due to debut near the end of next year.
Using a version of the Megane GT's 4Control four-wheel steering system, a further departure is that the RS can be specified with a six-speed EDC gearbox for the first time, in addition to the standard six-speed manual.
As with previous generations, the RS again offers the choice of Sport and Cup chassis, which in the case of the latter also adds a new Torsen limited slip differential. Standard on both models though is Renault's new Multi-Sense drive select system with five modes; Comfort, Normal, Sport, Race and Preso, R-Link2 infotainment system with RS Drive Monitor and Launch Control.
Pricing has not yet been announced, but Renault has confirmed that order books in Europe will open in December.
