GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality is currently rehabilitation PW Botha Boulevard, which includes the construction of universally accessible sidewalks, upgrading stormwater pipes and structures and installing new street lighting.
This essential infrastructure upgrade will improve safety and accessibility for all road users.
The overall project completion is scheduled for July 2026.
Pearl Street access-only (partial closure)
- To enable the PW Botha Boulevard / Pearl Street intersection upgrade, access from Pearl Street to PW Botha Boulevard will be closed.
- The closure of access from Pearl Street to PW Botha Boulevard starts Tuesday 14 October and is expected to remain in effect until Friday 12 December.
- Access for businesses on Pearl Street, Ivory Street, Ruby Crescent and Saffier Crescent will be maintained via Ossie Urban Road (Steinhoff) and Parl Street.
Key impacts:
- No exit from Pearl Street to PW Botha Boulevard (lef tand right).
- Access from PW Botha Boulevard will be maintained via Ossie Urban Road (Steinhoff) and Pearl Street.
- Left turns from PW Botha Boulevard into Pearl Street remain open.
George Municipality apologises for the inconvenience and appeals to road users to be patient and exercise caution during construction.
