GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for rough seas.
Saws has issued a Level 2 warning for damaging waves along the province’s coastline, effective from Thursday, midday until Sunday, 1 June, midnight.
The warning notes a likely disruption of small harbours and potential damage to coastal infrastructure.
“Danger to navigation at sea is likely. Disruption to beachfront activities [is expected], and the public is at risk of being swept off coastal rocks due to infrequent large waves,” it said.
The public is urged to remain vigilant.
“Be aware of large, unpredictable waves along the coast. Small vessels are advised to seek shelter in harbours, bays or inlets,” the agency added.
Saturday and Sunday will be fine and cold to cool but partly cloudy and warm in places.
