Update
GEORGE NEWS FLASH - The man accused of nearly severing a 2-year-old boy's penis in December 2017, is scheduled to be sentenced in the Thembalethu Regional Court today.
A blood-stained pair of scissors was found at the scene of the crime.
“The suspect, in his 30s, believed to be the mother's partner, tried to run from the scene but was arrested," said Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie.
The mother of the toddler woke up when she heard her child screaming.
The boy was transported and treated at the Red Cross Children's Hospital after the incident.
The suspect is in custody.
