GEORGE NEWSFLASH - A 2-year-old boy's penis was nearly completely severed by his mother's partner last night (Thursday 21 December) around 23:00 in Rosemoor.
Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, confirmed that a blood-stained pair of scissors was found at the scene of the crime.
“The suspect, in his thirties, tried to run from the scene but was arrested.”
The mother of the toddler woke up when she heard the child screaming.
He was asleep in his bed.
An ambulance drove him to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Cape Town after midnight.
It is believed that the emergency helicopter could not be used due to weather conditions.
The suspect will appear in the George Magistrate's Court on a charge of attempted murder on Wednesday 27 December.
Pojie said the police will issue a statement soon, they are awaiting more information.
