Update
GEORGE NEWS - The man accused of nearly severing a 2-year-old boy's penis on Thursday 21 December last year, appeared in the Thembalethu Magistrate's Court on a charge of attempted murder yesterday (Monday 5 February).
The case was postponed to 16 February, when he will appear in the Thembalethu District Court.
He has not pleaded yet.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie confirmed that a blood-stained pair of scissors was found at the scene of the crime.
“The suspect, in his 30s, believed to be the mother's partner, tried to run from the scene but was arrested.”
The mother of the toddler woke up when she heard her child screaming.
The boy was transported to the Red Cross Children's Hospital and has since been discharged.
The suspect remains in custody.
