SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - Two people died and three were taken to hospital after a car accident near Herold yesterday, Thursday 2 May.
According to George police communications officer, Capt Nolonwabu Tshengu, one of the passengers told the police that they were on their way to a nearby shop when a dog ran across the road.
“The driver (34) allegedly tried to avoid hitting the dog and lost control of the vehicle. We are investigating a case of culpable homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol,” she said.
The driver, who sustained light injuries, was arrested for drunken driving and is currently in custody at the George police station. He is scheduled to appear in the George Magistrate’s Court on Monday 6 May.
