Staunch support for Move One Million

MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - The Mossel Bay leg of the Move One Million nationwide rally was extremely well supported today.

The national campaign is a protest against corruption in government and injustice in South Africa.

A convoy of motorcycles and vehicles left George this morning for Mossel Bay, with the motorcycles arriving at the Point in Mossel Bay at 10:40.

The vehicles in the long convoy, which wound from the Point to Voorbaai, all had their hazard lights on. For a rainy, cold day, the turnout was truly exceptional.

While at the Point, demonstrators displayed placards, banners and flags, expressing discontent over corruption and racism and expressing the need for unity. There were all types of placards – homemade and handwritten, printed ones and others branded with the official Move One Million slogan.

Organiser of the George to Mossel Bay demonstration, Cornelis Hattingh, said: “I am pleased. We had a good turnout today.”

Demonstrators stood in the drizzle for quite some time, making an impact with their placards. Participants told the Mossel Bay Advertiser that raising awareness was important to them and that it helped to advocate for positive change. “We are going to see more and more of these protests,” one biker predicted.
