GEORGE NEWS - The George Campus of Nelson Mandela University was abuzz with excitement on Saturday as it hosted its annual welcoming ceremony for first-year students and their families.
This highly anticipated event marked the beginning of a transformative academic journey for many young scholars eager to embark on new paths of learning and personal growth.
The campus was filled with an atmosphere of warmth and optimism as students, accompanied by their proud parents and guardians, explored their new academic home.
Faculty members, senior students, and university staff extended a heartfelt welcome, offering guidance and support to help the newcomers settle into their environment.
In an inspiring keynote address Campus Principal Dr Kaluke Mawila underscored the university’s commitment to excellence and holistic development, encouraging students to make the most of their university experience.
Among the enthusiastic newcomers was Medwin Giewelaar who shared his excitement, “When the campus visited my high school, George High, I was in Grade 11. I was struck by how beautiful the campus looked.
"That’s when I decided to see for myself what the experience would be like. I want to meet new people. The diversity on campus is inspiring, and I’m excited to get involved in sports.”
