GEORGE NEWS - The murder accused, Andrew Fleming (41), who is charged with murdering his wife earlier this year, made a brief appearance in the George Magistrate's Court on Friday 7 July.
He allegedly stabbed his wife, Karen (52), to death at a guesthouse where the couple was staying in Aspeling Street. The case was postponed and he will make his next court appearance on Thursday 7 September.
Fleming opted not to apply for bail and has been in custody since his arrest on 27 April. According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, Fleming reported the incident at the George Police Station shortly after it happened, handing himself over.
George Police officers were dispatched to the scene at about 09:50.
On arrival they found the victim with multiple stab wounds in a bedroom.
She was declared dead by medical personnel on the scene, and Fleming was arrested.
The Flemings are originally from the Eastern Cape. They moved to George where Andrew was apparently the owner of a local solar panel business.
