GEORGE NEWS - Four former ordinary councillors have been promoted and were welcomed onto the George mayoral committee (Mayco) today.
These councillors replace Belrina Cornelius, Mercia Draghoender, Johan Stander and Gert Niehaus. Cornelius, Draghoender and Stander will stay on council, but without portfolios.
Gert Niehaus resigned recently as a George Councilor.
The new mayco members are Charlotte Clarke, Sean Snyman, Raybin Figland and Jacqulique von Brandis.
The mayco saw extensive reshuffling and the new committee is assembled as follows:
- George Mayor: Melvin Naik
- Deputy Mayor: Charlotte Clarke
- Speaker: Gerrit Pretorius
- Chief Whip: Marlene Barnardt
- Human Settlements: Dawid Willemse
- Civil Engineering: Mxolisi Nyakati
- Human Resources: Rassie de Villiers
- Community Services: Charlotte Clarke
- Protection Services: Cecil Noble
- Community & Social Development: Sean Snyman
- Planning and Development: Raybin Figland
- Electrotechnical Services: Edmund Bussack
- Finance: Stag Cronje
- Strategic Services: Iona Kritzinger
- Corporate Services: Jacqulique von Brandis
