GEORGE NEWS - Two women from George were arrested by members of the Port Elizabeth flying squad for the possession of a large quantity of prescription tablets over the weekend.
On Sunday 11 March members of the flying squad reacted on a tip-off from the community and arrested the two women in Stanford Road, Port Elizabeth.
According to Mount Road police clusters's spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, 6 000 stilpane tablets and cash were found on the suspects.
"The women, aged 31 and 38, could not provide a reasonable explanation for the possession of such a large quantity [of tablets].
"They were arrested on a charge of dealing/illegal possession of prescribed medication under the Medicine Control Act," she said.
They appeared in the Gelvandale Magistrate's Court on Monday 12 March.
