GEORGE NEWS - A local sterilisation initiative, Steri Squad, is calling on the public to help curb animal overpopulation. 

Thanks to a generous donor, every rand raised will now go twice as far.

All monies raised will go towards sterilising animals from George through organisations like York High Animal Club, Borcherds Paws, Sentiara by Salome Bruyns, CAT Garden Route and Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need

For a limited time, the donor will match every contribution, allowing the organisation to double the number of sterilisation procedures they can perform. 

Steri Squad stresses that sterilisation is the most effective way to prevent cruelty and neglect, as uncontrolled breeding leads to thousands of unwanted animals suffering every year.

A single dog and her offspring can produce up to 76 000 puppies in just six years, while one cat and her offspring can produce more than 11 million kittens in the same period.

Donations to the Steri Squad’s sterilisation campaign can make a lasting difference in reducing animal suffering and controlling the stray population.
