GEORGE NEWS - The newly installed traffic signal at Davidson and Scout Street intersection will be in operation soon.
The upgrade is part of an ongoing effort to improve road safety and the traffic flow in the area.
Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are advised to:
- Exercise caution while approaching the intersection,
- Observe all signal changes and road signage,
- Adhere to traffic rules to ensure the safety of all road users
Activation period
During the testing phase traffic officials will be controlling the traffic. The test dates of the traffic signals will be between 5 and 11 November.
Final commissioning dates will be between 10 and 12 November.
Services disruption
Traffic using Davidson and Scout Street will be affected, and during this phase the intersection will operate as a 3-way stop.
Safety information public:
During the signal testing and flashing period, road users are requested to treat the intersection as a three-way stop and proceed with caution or obey the instructions of the traffic warden on site, where applicable.
George Municipality apologises for the inconvenience and appeals to road users to be patient and exercise caution during construction. "Please look out for and adhere to temporary road signage and be aware of roadwork personnel. Details of further road upgrade work will be published as may be necessary."
