Update
GEORGE NEWS - A prominent businesswoman from Wilderness was followed by three people for thirty minutes before they burgled her vehicle at the Garden Route Mall on Monday morning, 26 February.
"From CCTV footage we can see that they followed me out of Absa and drove behind me to the parking area at Game.
"There they approached my car, but the parking area was probably too busy for their liking so they continued to follow me to Deeghuys by car.
"That's where they smashed my window and grabbed R8 000 I had withdrawn for my business," the victim told the George Herald.
The thieves also made off with her handbag and cellphone.
"It's unbelievable. They followed me for about a half an hour without me realising anything.
"I popped into Deeghuys for five minutes and when I came back, my car had been broken into and my things were gone," she said.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie confirmed the incident and said that a case of theft out of a motor vehicle is being investigated.
Conville police station commander Col Avril Kriga said the vehicle used by the suspects, an old white Ford Laser, has been recovered. The owner of the vehicle is however not a suspect.
"The car was apparently used by a family member who is currently wanted for questioning," he said.
No one has been arrested, but if anyone has information regarding the theft, they can phone the investigating officer, Sergeant Ruan du Plooy at the Conville police station on 044 803 3302 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
