GEORGE NEWS - The 34-year-old police constable who was arrested by the Hawks at George Court yesterday, Monday 24 March, will be back in court for a bail application on Thursday 27 March.
Constable Mpumelelo Gift Ngudwana appeared in the George Magistrate's Court earlier today on charges of dealing in drugs and corruption. He remains in custody.
The suspect worked as a court orderly when he was arrested.
Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi says information was received that from 2022 until to date, Ngudwana, who works at the George Magistrate's Court, was dealing in drugs and involved in corrupt activities.
He was allegedly receiving money for his services and smuggling drugs into the court cells for prisoners.
During the arrest, 11 Mandrax tablets, one packet of cannabis and R300 gratification were found in his possession.
