Key responsibilities:
As Estate Infrastructure Maintenance Manager your responsibilities will be:
- Managing all infrastructure maintenance on the Estate, covering a marina with canals and jetties, roads, bridges, buildings and sports facilities
- Acting as custodian of the Estates 10-year Infrastructure Maintenance Plan and its implementation
- Managing and mentoring a small in-house maintenance team
- Monitoring a SCADA installation and reacting to trends thereby avoiding operational interruptions
- Developing a collaborative relationship with the Knysna Municipality to monitor and ensure that municipal infrastructure on the Estate, including water, electrical and sewage services, is maintained and operating to specification
- Must be a South African Citizen
Qualifications and experience required for the job:
- Higher National Diploma (Civil, Building or Engineering)
- B Tech (Municipal) or B Tech (Civils) would be an added advantage
- A minimum of 10 years proven work experience in residential estates or a municipal engineering environment
- Project management experience covering definition of work-scope, cost estimation, tendering, cost control, progress reporting and commissioning
- Contract management experience based on the FIDIC Red Book
- Knowledge and experience of compliance with Health and Safety legislation and associated good practice
- Demonstrated ability to develop long term maintenance programmes and to control costs against the annual budget
Skills and abilities required for the job:
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint and MS Project
- Particular skill in developing and managing budget and project cost control spreadsheets
- Excellent written skills covering report writing and basic contract development
- Effective time management with strong ability to prioritise between multiple projects
Personal attributes required for the job:
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal

- Observant and willing to raise issues on the Estate that require remedial action
- Good physical health with good mobility and able to work at height when required
- Comfortable reporting to the Estate General Manager whilst working independently in strict accordance with the strategy and governance requirements of the Estate’s Infrastructure Portfolio Committee
