GEORGE NEWS - The Seven Passes Road between Wilderness and George is open to all traffic except heavy vehicles.
This was confirmed by Werner Labuschagne of Bobcon, the contractor appointed to carry out the road construction and rehabilitation work, on Monday 12 January.
Motorists are advised that the road remains under construction, and stop-and-go traffic controls will be implemented at certain sections as the work progresses. The first controls are expected to be in place by the end of February.
Road users are urged to proceed with caution, as the area is frequented by wildlife, as well as cyclists and other motorists.

Despite the ongoing construction, the Seven Passes Road provides a useful alternative to the Kaaimans Pass, particularly during periods of heavy congestion or when traffic on that route comes to a standstill.
