Heat wave conditions over Karoo and Garden Route tomorrow and Wednesday

GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - In the latest weather update from the South African Weather Service, extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Central Karoo, Western Cape and the Namakwa interior Northern Cape tomorrow and Wednesday.

Fire danger warnings

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over vast parts of Northern Cape, the western parts of Free State, south-western parts of North West.

Advisories

A. A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected over the Central and Little Karoo districts, as well as Witzenberg Municipality of the Western Cape, over most of the Northern and Eastern Cape, the southern half of North West, and the Free State until Wednesday, 14 January.

B. Very hot to extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions are expected over the north-eastern, in places over the eastern parts and over the Cape Winelands of the Western Cape as well as Khai-Ma Municipality of the Northern Cape until Wednesday.

Western Cape

Cloudy in places in the morning as well in the evening with fog patches over the south coast and interior, otherwise fine and hot to very hot but partly cloudy along the south coast where it will be warm. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly between Cape Agulhas and Strandfontein at first, becoming moderate to fresh south-westerly but light and variable along the south coast by the late afternoon.

Western half of the Eastern Cape

Morning fog along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in the extreme north with isolated thunderstorms over the interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate westerly to south-westerly, becoming light and variable in the late afternoon.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape

Morning fog along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated thunderstorms over the interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly, becoming moderate southerly to south-easterly in the afternoon.
