André is enthusiastic about his trackless sliding gate design, which is known in the US but is not available in South Africa yet. André, a passionate fitter and turner, is confident that his own version of the trackless design will add value to his clients. "The aim is to give our clients a sliding gate that is maintenance free. The disadvantage of the conventional sliding gate is that the track is damaged over time by vehicles driving over it," he says.
The one side of the gate is 'anchored' in a unit box that runs with bearings, sliding the gate, which is suspended in the air, from side to side.
The unit box is mounted in a concrete base and is suitable for heavy industrial to lighter residential purposes. The steel gate that André has designed to go with it is sturdy and will not bend even though not anchored in a track.
André formerly worked for two steel engineering firms, enjoying legendary status in the industry because of his turning and fitting skills and well-known for his accuracy with CNC machines.
