George Municipality, through its Gender and Disability Subsection, implemented the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign 2025 under the theme 'Say no to gender-based violence'. Activities across the municipal area included a public picketing programme in the George CBD, followed by a memorial service in Syferfontein and a community march and awareness session in Touwsranten. Victim empowerment programmes for women and school-based GBV awareness sessions at Franken and Klipdrif Primary Schools were presented. There was also a thanksgiving and awareness service in Herold attended by approximately 350 community members. In Blanco, a GBV awareness roadblock was held and the campaign was concluded with a closing prevention session targeting young adults.
