Police have dismissed claims circulating on social media that a 15-year-old boy was kidnapped in George CBD, describing the information as incorrect and untrue.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, members of the Garden Route District Crime Combating Team responded to information about a juvenile allegedly travelling in a vehicle. The vehicle was traced and pulled over.
“During a preliminary investigation, it was established that the person involved is in fact 20 years old,” said Spies. “He allegedly took items from men and fled. He was later located and taken to recover the goods.”
Police also visited the man’s residence and spoke to his next of kin. No case relating to the incident was opened for further investigation.
