GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Local singer and surfer, Elvis Blue, needs no introduction. Since achieving Idols fame in 2010 he has produced hits like Things My Father Said, Lighthouse and Save Me, performing to capacity crowds at music festivals and venues countrywide.
His album and chapter 'Afrikaans', which was released in 2013, along with his album 'Journey', and his 2010 self-titled Universal Music debut 'Elvis Blue' have all set very high standards and aroused a great deal of positive criticism from fans of great original music.
This year Elvis took home his second South African Music Award (Sama) in two years; this time for Best Contemporary Music Album for his release 'Afrikaans'. (He won his first Sama in 2013 when he took home the award for Best Adult Contemporary Album for his album 'Journey').
Elvis Blue was also named best male artist of the year at the 13th annual Ghoema Afrikaans Music Awards on 12 April at Carnival City's Big Top Arena in Brakpan. The Ghoemas is the only independent music awards for Afrikaans music and this year 25 artists were awarded.
With album sales in excess of 100 000, eight Top Ten radio singles and hundreds of live performances under his belt, he is one of the most successful artists in the country.
Elvis is the first Afrikaans artist to scale the Top Ten of the iTunes Store chart - doing so on the very first day of the release of 'Afrikaans'.
Elvis will be performing at the Garden Route Casino's Bravo Lounge on Saturday 24 May – heating up the winter entertainment line-up.
He will be singing some of his greatest hits as well as songs from his album 'Afrikaans'. "We are excited to welcome Elvis Blue to our stage in May. It promises to be an outstanding show; a real treat for his countless fans," said the casino's Promotions Coordinator Tryana Potgieter.
Tickets cost R100 per person and are available at the casino's customer service desk. A full house is expected for the show so pre-booking is advised.
