Eden Council’s last council meeting for the term, before the local government elections on 3 August, was held yesterday (23 June) in good spirits, with lots of laughter and sentiment. According to Municipal Manager Godfrey Louw the new Eden Council will probably have their first sitting in September. The whips of the respective parties, Deputy Mayor Lionel Esau, Eden Mayor Wessie van der Westhuizen and Louw all used the opportunity to address the council with a few last words. Esau asked the councillors to approach the election with the necessary dignity and grace.
