GEORGE NEWS - She misses her coach and wants to give him all her medals. These were the words of eighteen-year-old swimmer Minke Janse van Rensburg, when she was welcomed back at George Airport on Sunday 24 September.
Minke brought home two gold medals, four silver and a bronze that she received for her performance at the European Down's Syndrome Swimming Championships in Italy.
Back at home in George, Minke said she missed her coach, Franna Vorster, and is excited to start practising again.
She had a lovely two-week holiday with her uncle and aunt in Rustenburg after the championships, but she is glad to be home.
School friends from Up With Downs, family friends and a few swimming friends welcomed her back at the airport, while her friends at Garden Route Swim School gave her a warm welcome at the pool on Tuesday, complete with hot chocolate, cupcakes and an enormous teddy.
