GEORGE NEWS - The last leg of the 2018 South African swimming Grand Prix season was held in Stellenbosch recently.
The Grand Prix galas act as final preparation for SA swimmers who will be competing at the Commonwealth Games in Queensland, Australia in April.
Swimmers who qualified for the SA National Junior Championships in Durban were invited to swim in this prestigious event.
Luard Elstadt, Eugene van der Merwe, Arianne Bauer, AC Kleynhans and Gustav Schlechter from Fish Eagles Aquatics attended the Grand Prix gala and competed against the likes of Cameron van der Burgh, Erin Gallagher, Luan Grobbelaar and Rebecca Meder.
Gustav Schlechter (200m freestyle) and Luard Elstadt (50m backstroke) qualified for the respective individual finals.
Gustav (50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle), Luard (50m fly, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke) and Arianne (50m backstroke, 100m breaststroke) broke the individual Eden Aquatics records at the Stellenbosch gala.
Gustav Schlechter and AC Kleynhans qualified for the SA Youth Championships which will be held in April at the Newton Park Pool in Port Elizabeth.
