GEORGE TENNIS NEWS - Some outstanding tennis talent was on display at the first Eden Mini 1 tournament that was hosted in George last weekend, with the finals being played at the Great Tennis Academy on Sunday.
The Western brothers were on a roll, both scoring a double whammy. Cuan Western (11) won the boys singles u.12 title after beating Stefan Stieger 6-1, 6-1 in the finals and went on, with his doubles partner, De Villiers Lamprecht from Knysna, to beat Roux Delport and Ivan Beukes in the boys u.12 doubles 7-6, 6-1.
Not to be outdone, his younger brother Cooper (8) beat Jan Botma in the boys u.10 singles finals 6-4, 6-1. With his doubles partner, Arnu Visser, they managed to beat Janu Botma and Jacobus du Plessis 2-6, 7-6, 11-9.

There were a few titanic battles, especially in the earlier rounds on Friday. Newcomer Charl Vos lost to Michael Mostert while Liebe Oosthuizen manged to beat Carla Dannhauser 6-7, 6-3, 12-10. And young Anja Bezuidenhout won an epic battle against Sienna Mann 7-5, 3-6, 10-7.
In a highly entertaining match, promising Nika Potgieter from Oudtshoorn lost to Ile Lategan from George 7-5, 6-3 in the girls u.12 final.

- Boy's singles u.16: Michael Mostert bt Arno Colyn 6-3, 6-1.
- Boy's singles u.14: Xander Pienaar bt Daniel Knott 6-0, 6-1.
- Boy's singles u.14 Gold: Ruan Lamprecht bt David Beukes 6-0, 6-0.
- Boy's singles u.12: Cuan Western bt Stefan Stieger 6-1, 6-1.
- Boy's singles u.12 Gold: Riley Clark bt Ruben Bezuidenhout 6-0, 6-0.
- Boy's singles u.10: Cooper Western bt Janu Botma 12-5.
- Girls u.18: Liebe Oosthuizen bt Carla Dannhauser 6-7, 6-3, 12-10.
- Girls u.14: Anja Bezuidenhout bt Sienna Mann 7-5, 3-6, 10-7.
