Judging from what was said at the press conference following WP’s 33-15 win over the ORC Griquas in the Absa Currie Cup clash that marked the mid-point of the league phase of the season, Province have decided to take the wise path of using the competition to build experience in the flyhalves.
That would be a departure from their standpoint at the start, when they made the decision to persist with Demetri Catrakilis as first choice pivot even though he will be continuing his career in France at the end of the domestic season.
WP were criticised for not availing themselves of the opportunity to build the experience and help the growth of the flyhalves who might be needed to front the Stormers’ challenge in next year’s Super Rugby campaign.
