RUGBY NEWS - Sportbeat Rugby, a local Facebook page with over 33 000 followers from all over the country, has spoiled its bloggers with a breakfast and awarded them with certificates of appreciation.
Several prizes were also handed out just before the SWD Super League finals at Outeniqua Park between Crusaders and Heidelberg on Saturday, 8 October.
According to Avril Ahrends, CEO of Heartbeat Fm and administrator of the page, the bloggers are fans from different rugby clubs in the region and have boundaries that are never overstepped.
"Respect for each other, putting God first and no swearing and personal matters on the page. Even teams who didn't make it to the finals have decided to support the teams in the finals. A great rugby spirit was built just before the game," said Ahrends.
Ahrends also conveyed his condolences to Marcel Marais, the scrum half of the Heidelberg Rugby team who lost his father, James Pietersen (57), on Saturday while playing for his team.
Sportbeat Rugby treated their bloggers to a lovely breakfast on Saturday morning, before the SWD Premier League Club Rugby championship.
