GEORGE NEWS - George cricket team Ramblers B successfully defended their title as the Reserve League champions of the SWD Cricket Board, with an exciting two wicket victory over favourites, Union Stars B on Saturday.

In the match, which was played at the REC in Oudtshoorn, Union Stars B batted first and made a competitive 204/9 in their 50 overs with Marcello Piedt (32), Elridge Booysen (30) and E Titus (30) the top run scorers.

Eugene Swartz (4/38) was the pick of the bowlers for Ramblers.

Askin Louw (49; 3x6; 5x4) and Mario Michaels (29) got Ramblers off to a flying start with their score at 105/1 after 15 overs.
Union Stars fought back and with the Ramblers score at 142/8 they sniffed victory, but an unbroken partnership match winning partnership of 63 runs between captain Shaun Pretorius (56*; 47 balls) and Donovan Stripp (11*) took Ramblers (205/8 in 38 overs) to a memorable 2 wicket victory.

Elirdge Booysen (4/31) and Jolan Anthony (3/24) were the most successful bowlers for Union Stars.
