Meyer will bow out after the Rugby World Cup but there has been talk of an extension with sources saying that Meyer signed the contract after the announcement of the Rugby World Cup squad before the tournament.
While some believe he needs to be replaced, the Bok coach did a sidestep on the question of his contract when asked after the game.
“I’ve just said I’m there to serve and whatever it takes. I’m not happy about tonight, because I really thought this team could do it. I’m just thinking about today. I’m only here to serve and I’m only here to make the country proud – not me – and we didn’t,” Meyer said.
