GEORGE NEWS - A CrossFit competition for Garden Route athletes at Redberry Farm on Saturday was a big success and very well supported with 128 contestants from over the Garden Route and Cape Town showing off their strength and fitness in various categories.
This is an annual event organised by the CrossFit George gym, but it was the first time that Box Battles SA hosted the competition.
Monique Larsen and Rae Hope of Box Battles SA said a very small percentage of CrossFit athletes takes part in competitive events because they draw only elite competitors.
"The event in George offers accessible exercises as it is put together with CrossFit athletes of all levels in mind. We included kids for the first time this year, so the whole family could enter.
"The youngest participant was eight years old and the oldest 60, all completing the same workouts."
The weather played along beautifully and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the event.
