GEORGE NEWS - Two netball clubs from Thembalethu came out victorious in their George Netball League games this past Saturday, 5 March.
The games were played at the Imizamo Yethu High School sport fields.
Sunrise Netball Club from Gushindoda (Zone 8), Thembalethu, defeated Sea Birds netball club with a frustrating score of 14-2. Sinombulelo Manyathi converted most points for Sunrise, supported by Imange Khonzaphi and Endinako Ntsondwa who were pushing and controlling the game, preventing the Hoekwil visitors from breaking through.
The second game of the day was between Black Squad and Peace Lovers from Zone 9 in Thembalethu. The young players of Peace Lovers didn't waste any opportunity, playing beautiful netball and attacking Black Squad defenders. Peace Lovers won the game by 11-3 with Ongeziwe Julies raking in the goals.
Currently there are 12 netball clubs affiliated with the George Netball League: Peace Lovers, Moonlight, Outeniqua, Western Tigers, Sunrise, Black Squad, Simunye, Rising Stars, Bangalos, Young Teenagers, Sea Birds (Hoekwil) and Swallows (Hoekwil).
