WESTERN CAPE NEWS - The Western Cape Team Table Tennis Championship was held at De Jagers Sport Complex, Oudtshoorn on Saturday 21 October.
Three regions attended this championship - Eden, Cape Winelands, and West Coast. Eden players did very well but only two groups won medals. The gold medal winners were the u.15 girls (Abigail Jacobs, Hayley Theron, Lauri - Jay Erasmus), and the senior men (Garshen Williams, Pierre Swanepoel, Heinrich Pedro and Raiden Noonen).
Chairman of the Eden Table Tennis Federation Garshen Williams gave his thanks to the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) for assisting them in funding their major event, and to the Eden Sport Council for helping the federation.
He encouraged parents to send their children for table tennis training. "Table Tennis in the Eden area is expanding and growing. We want more table tennis players from all areas. Please feel free to send your kids for training at our local clubs." Williams can be contacted on 071 207 0270.
