GEORGE BOWLS NEWS - The first round of this year's Lew Geffen Sotheby's International Realty Business League was played on pristine greens at the George Bowling Club last Thursday evening.
The fallacy that lawn bowls is an old persons' sport was once again dispelled with 28 teams, comprising 112 business people, in action - thoroughly enjoying the competition, networking and socialising.
Stadler and Swart Attorneys won the prize for the biggest win of the evening, closely followed by Millers Attorneys. Third place was shared by four teams: Mazars, DC Partner, Kempston Motors and Vertex Central.
The closest game of the evening was between Raubenheimers Attorneys and newcomers to the business league, Standard Bank, who drew 11-11 and both won six ends.
The traditional "melktertjies for touchers" has become a firm favourite and this week it was sponsored by Lew Geffen Sotheby's.
The George Bowling Club will host the second round on Thursday 20 February at 17:45.
