GEORGE NEWS - The Otto racing team from George gave a splendid performance in the second round of the SuperGP Champions Trophy at the Killarney International Raceway last weekend.
Zanté Otto, first, put her pink Yamaha R3 on pole position on Friday afternoon. Then she upped her game on Saturday, racing for the win and leading for most of the two Super300 heats, fighting hard against the field of very quick boys.
In race 1 she crossed the line only 0.002 sec behind Dino Iozzo. In race 2, after changing her game plan, she led most of the race, only to miss a gear on the last lap and come across the line in 4th place.
This achievement made her the first female ever to finish in second position on a national motorcycle racing podium. Kewyn Snyman had a positive weekend too, qualifying in second position and dicing for the win in race 1, but crossed the line in 3rd position. After some slight mechanical troubles in race 2 and not being able to pull away from the starting line, he took an outstanding race win, coming from 20 seconds back.
Ricardo Otto had a solid but tough weekend, finally making his full time debut in the Super600 category. This was the first time Ricardo got through a complete weekend without any trouble from start to finish and it will definitely give him and the team a leg to stand on for the rest of the season.
