GEORGE BOWLING NEWS - A very successful Club Mixed Pairs Championship was recently held at the George Bowling Club with a record-breaking 42 teams that entered.
This is especially good for the club, considering the reigning Covid-19 situation.
The quarter finals were neck and neck with the maximum winning margin being only two points.
In the semi-finals Henk Barnard and his partner Elna de Wet beat the up-and-coming Dawie Davis and Gail Steyn by a small margin, while Mike McCarthy and his partner Johlene Bronkhorst bagged the other game against Gerrit Teunissen and his partner Anne-Marie Palmer.
The final was a very tight affair with the lead changing hands on many occasions.
The final result saw Mike and the ever consistent Johlene taking the honours. And with it the George Bowling Club Mixed Pairs trophy for 2020.
The runners-up were Elna de Wet and Henk Barnard with competition secretary, Johan van Blerk (middle).
