BOX NEWS - Jose Carlos Ramirez from Avnal, California, and Amir Imam of Albany, New York, meet in a clash for the vacant WBC junior-welterweight belt at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City on Saturday night.
The 25-year-old Ramirez (21-0; 16) has just come off an impressive second-round knockout victory over the previously unbeaten Mike Reed, who had a record of 23-0 going into the fight, to retain his WBC Continental Americas junior-welterweight title.
Imam, 27, who has a record of 21-1; 18, suffered his only loss on 28 November 2015 against Adrian Granados, who stopped him in the eighth round.
However, since this setback, he has won his last three fights against Wilfred Acuna (16-19), Jose Vidal Soto (26-23-2), and Johnny Garcia (129-5-1), all inside the distance; none of whom can be considered world beaters.
