The first ladies open semi-final saw mother Mimie Nortjé having the upper hand (21-12) over daughter Mariska in a well contested family affair while Elma Davis, from the George Bowling Club, clinched a well deserved victory of 21-7 over Mossel Bay's Annetje van Wyk in the second semifinal.
The final between Elma Davis and Mimie Nortjé was a tense affair with Davis taking the 2012 Ladies Open Single Championship by 21-15.
The men's semi-finals saw Knysna's Ted Coetzee being victorious over Steve Rado from Plettenberg Bay Country Club (21-15) in an extremely competitive game while Japie Combrink clinched an all George Club semi-final against Glen Park by 21-14.
The final between Coetzee and Combrink produced an outstanding display of bowls and camaraderie in a memor-able and tense contest. Coetzee only just managed to clinch the game and Southern Cape Championship by a mere two points (21-19).
As with the open finals, the novice championship exceeded all expectations.
In an all Outeniqua affair, Susan Meyer became the 2012 Ladies Novice Champion by narrowly beating Jackie Rabie by 21-17, while Hank Brink from the George Bowling Club clinched the Men's Novice title by beating Marius Delport in a marathon encounter by 21-20.
