GEORGE NEWS - The Southern Knights Chess Club hosted its first open tournament on Friday and Saturday, 23 and 24 February at George South Primary School.
The competitiom commenced with the blitz event on Friday evening, which featured two groups. The junior division attracted 11 participants, while the open section saw 19 players in action.
Despite facing load shedding challenges, the event was successfully conducted.
On Saturday, the rapid event was played, which was comprised of three sections: juniors (9 players), seniors (10 players), and the open (18 players), totalling 37 participants.
Although the tournament was relatively small, it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The management of Southern Knights extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended the tournament and supported them.
