The sponsor’s team maintained their top position in the championship section with a solid 12-8 win over second placed Lombards Attorneys while the Stanmar foursome, thanks to an emphatic 15-5 win over the Du Plessis Vervoer team, have moved into second position on the log with only a single point separating them from the leaders.
This should turn out to be a crackerjack final game as the Stanmar players look to overturn their defeat from the last time these two teams met.
Very close behind and also still in contention for the top prize lie the Lombards team who will play against the Mutual and Federal team. They jumped into fourth position courtesy of their very good win over the team from York High.
Another game that was very closely contested was that between Millers Inc and Honda Auto.
Despite only winning 5 of the 12 ends played, the Millers team managed to beat their opponents, who won 7 of the ends, by 12-8.
In the Plate Section, Mazars consolidated their leading position when they beat the team from Coastal Petroleum by 13-3, thus throwing down the gauntlet to the other teams in their section.
Challenging them this week will be the very competitive team from Shell Sandkraal who will have to pull out all the stops if they are to snatch first place in the final round.
Match of the 7th round must go to the teams representing Coastal Cupboards and the GT Group.
After 12 nerve tingling ends they had each won 6 ends and scored 8 shots, thus the match ended in a tie.
At the end of the afternoon’s play, a braai was held for the competitors and their supporters.
